Canon Cathy Black
Office Manager
Cathy Black is a lifelong Episcopalian and a native Arizonan. She grew up at All Saints’, Phoenix and has been a member at Christ Church of the Ascension since 2020. Cathy also served as the Parish Administrator for All Saints’ for 10 years and then moved to serve in the Office of the Bishop for 18 years. Prior to her church work, Cathy taught special education for 10 years.
Cathy is married to Barry and they have one son, Adam, and three grandchildren. She enjoys reading, crocheting and making jewelry. Cathy sings in the choir here at Christ Church.

Cody Bro
Director of Children, Youth, and Family Ministries
& Christ Church School Chaplain
Cody has previously served on the Vestry and volunteered with CYF ministry programs and activities. In recent years, Cody worked as a teacher and taught elementary and high school students. In addition to his current role at the church, he also serves as the Chaplain for Christ Church School, leading chapel services, teaching elementary Religion classes, and providing pastoral care to families.
"CCA has a history you can sense, as evidenced in the people and families who have served this community for many years," said Cody. "When you come to CCA, you become a part of that rich history and you are welcomed into the fabric of the parish."
In his spare time, Cody is an amateur magician, and also enjoys acting at his local community theater and serving on the Glendale Library Advisory Council.

Tigran Buniatyian
Director of Sacred Music
Tigran Buniatyan received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Organ and Harpsichord from Oberlin Conservatory of Music and MM in Musicology from Yerevan State Conservatory.
As a performer on historical keyboard instruments, Tigran has participated in numerous international music festivals and conferences, including concert series and collaborations with Jaap ter Linden, Beth Wenstrom and Jeanne Lamon, Andre Thomas and others. He has been involved in projects with renowned music ensembles including Tafelmusik and Phoenix Chorale. Tigran Buniatyan’s repertoire mostly consists of works of The North German Organ School. Pursuing his interests in this field, Tigran has performed on many historical organs across Northern Europe.
Tigran served as an Academic Dean of the Sayat-Nova State Music School in Yerevan, Armenia. He has also served as Music Director at churches in Ohio and Arizona.
Currently, Tigran is a doctoral student at ASU studying organ with Dr. Kimberly Marshall, and teaches at the East Valley School of Music in Chandler. Upcoming concert projects include collaborations on the organ with the Phoenix Symphony and Arizona Philharmonic.

Max Walker
Parish Life Assistant
Max Walker joins Christ Church of the Ascension after spending three years as the Communications Manager for Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. Before that, he worked in digital and assignment manager roles in local television, both at ABC15 in Phoenix and KCRG in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
When not working on the bulletin or announcements, he can be found buried in peer-reviewed research as he studies for a Master's in Public Administration from Arizona State University. He lives in Phoenix with his wife, Kandice, and son, David.

Rebecca Mungillo
Communications Coordinator
Rebecca Mungillo serves as the Communications Coordinator at Christ Church of the Ascension. Originally from the small town of Morenci, Arizona, she graduated from Grand Canyon University and brings a background in education, ministry, and family engagement to her role.
Rebecca previously served at Christ Church as a youth leader and in family ministries in 2016. She also taught kindergarten and first grade in the Laveen School District. Rebecca and her husband, Josh, are parents to a four-year-old son and twin boys.
