We’re all Pentecostal. We always have been.

Dear People of Christ Church,

Sunday is Pentecost, when we remember the Holy Spirit filling the disciples and giving birth to the church. It would be a great day to be together, but we are not quite there yet.

Our COVID-19 Vestry Advisory Committee met again this week to solidify our process for opening and what that will look like, but we are not quite ready yet, according to our benchmarks for the diocese or local health officials.

Yes, we feel it too. That itch to get back together. Soon. But, in the mean time, we are still together on Zoom for worship, classes, and meetings. We are still Knowing, Loving, and Serving Christ together at Christ Church of the Ascension.

Shana Halpin put on an awesome Vacation Bible School for our younger children online this week with able help from Jody Cash in the office and Chaplain Erin Oney. The week was filled with explorations of faith stories and crafts from around the world. Celebrate their work – it was so much fun.

Pentecost begins a new season of the church year, and soon a new season of our parish life as we regather when the time is right. Join us, abide with us in this time of change and transition for the world.

Remember the church is not closed. It never has been. Come by your home and take a walk on the grounds and pray.

In Christ,

Daniel
