Senior Warden’s Note

Dear Christ Church of the Ascension Family,

Thank you very much to all of you for the loving and warm send off for Fr. Daniel and his family! Thank you for contributing to his Almy gift card for vestments, for all of the cards, the roast, and your prayers for him and his family as they begin their new season in South Carolina.

I know many of you are sad and will continue to grieve for awhile however, I will ask you all to help keep our church on solid footing by praying for our Vestry and all those involved in the search process for our new Rector.

On the other side of sadness we have hope and faith in God. I am confident that the Holy Spirit will work through us to bring a new Rector that will strengthen and grow our church.

We are blessed to have our Associate Rector, Rev. Pauley and his family with us along with our Deacons Rev. Jean Hawkins and Rev. Erin Oney. On occasion we may have supply priests worshiping with us; please give them the CCA welcome!

We have started the process on reviewing and interviewing potential Interim Rectors and we will provide you with updates as the process unfolds.

Also be on the look out for the start of our “Days of Discovery”. This will be our first phase in the search process which will involve a parish wide survey that will ultimately show where we are today in the church and where we want to go. The data we receive becomes the foundation for who will be called.

Finally, I urge all of you to keep us in your prayers, to be patient and optimistic during this transition and, above all, have faith in God that he will deliver the right Rector to us.

Ephesians 4:11 – 16
It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

With love in Christ,
Melissa Bull
