Prayer Requests
The center of our life at Christ church is our life of prayer and worship. If there is something that you need prayers about, please fill out the following form which will be sent to the clergy of Pastoral Care. |
Care and Help
The clergy of Christ Church of the Ascension make regular visits to parishioners in the hospital, in nursing homes, and at home. Our clergy are happy to see anyone in need for the purpose of receiving the sacrament, anointing of the sick, and prayer and conversation. We also have a dedicated team of Lay Eucharistic Visitors who take the sacrament to parishioners who are unable to make it to church on a permanent or extended basis. Please contact the church office at 602-840-8210 if you or someone you know requires a visit.
Prayer List
We keep a prayer list on the altar in our Chapel, and those whose needs are known to our community are prayed for by name at each celebration of the Eucharist, every day at Evening Prayer, and by the members of our Prayer Chain. Members of the congregation may request prayers for themselves, family, or friends and should contact the church office to add names to our list. We ask parishioners who request for prayers for themselves or others to keep the clergy and staff informed of their progress. We believe that prayer is the holy work of the people of God, and it is a vital ministry at Christ Church of the Ascension.
Sunshine Committee
The Sunshine Committee, headed by Cynthia Byers, is a special outreach ministry of Christ Church of the Ascension. They are a group of parishioners called to serve others by bringing meals after surgery, the birth of a baby, or at any other time of need. Please contact the church office if you would like to receive meals in a time of need. Also, please inform the clergy and staff of other parishioners who may need this service, as people often will not ask for meals for themselves.
Lay Eucharistic Visitors
This program is designed to take Holy Communion to parishioners who are home-bound and not able to get to church for services. Currently we have four parishioners who are assigned to individual homebound church members by the priests of Christ Church. These parishioners visit other church members in their homes regularly once a month or as needed. If desired, family members may also participate in this simple visitation. The home-bound may be seen on a short term basis but usually for a longer time. Members of Christ Church who are in need of this service should contact the church office.
